Pitlochry

Left Inverness prepared for a big drive, with no certain destination in mind. The car we hired is a belter, it really zips around these little roads and I am getting the knack of the tight driving, finally. Once more as we headed down Loch Ness the scenery was breathtaking. Made a few stops to take it all in but it is non stop mountains, sleepy villages and wide waterways.

We were loosely heading for a place called Glencoe, on recommendation of the girl in Inverness and passed through Fort Augustus and Fort William, both beautiful. Finally made Glencoe and wandered into the pub to be greeted by a young Aussie barman. We got the impression that Glencoe is a mountain walkers haven, not a pub, ice cream, shops, restaurant haven like we want.

So we decided to drive on Macduff. Pitlochry here we come. It would mean at least two more hours on the windy ways but we would get two nights there and could relax.
Well the next two hours of driving is the most extraordinary scenery I have ever come across.
Bloody amazing. The pictures tell the story, but not really. You just can't get the 360 degrees perspective, if you have been there dear reader you know.

Anyway Pitlochry was heaven. Loved it. Shops food and a great hotel with class breakfast. And a fish ladder.

Home tomorrow, but one of the tour highlights was today. St Andrews a week before it hosts the open.
For yours truly, heaven on a stick.

We have had a sensational five weeks, with too many highlights to name. We are very lucky people. Blessed.
